As seen in my previous posts, I have been collecting imagery to backup my initial research on the representation of women in film. During this process, I have gathered screen grabs of images directly from films and clips that could be useful to me later in the project.
Research into Menkes' work on women in cinema discusses how women are displayed in film. They are positioned and coded as objects in front of the camera. One example is when the camera pans across a woman's body, allowing the audience to view her slowly in stages, eyeing up her whole figure. I gathered some clips where this occurs in specific films and, as a result, have created a series of posters name 'The Fragmented Women of Hollywood'.
I started with three films I had specifically collected these clips from and split each section of her figure the same way it appeared when the camera slowly panned up her body. The films in question are as follows; Jurassic World (2015), The Babysitter (2017) and The Babysitter: Killer Queen (2020). I have included the initial visuals created below.

Bryce Dallas Howard as Claire Dearing
Jurassic World (2015)

Jenna Ortega as Phoebe Atwell
The Babysitter: Killer Queen (2020)

Samantha Weaving as Bee Benson
The Babysitter (2017)
Once I had a rough structure for each poster, I began to play with the layout. I wanted the image to appear fragmented, so I tried to achieve this by experimenting with the alignment of the pictures on the page.

I also created some which involved a mix and match. I thought this could show how this can happen in any film, no matter the plot, actress or character on screen.

Overall, as a simple experiment, I am relatively happy with the outcome. Much work is needed to create a final product containing images with these ideas; however, I think the focus is becoming slightly more apparent. I am unsure about the typeface as initially, I was attempting to comment on the romantic side of Hollywood, but I no longer believe this is needed.
