Function Vs Form

As a designer, I always work on the function of a piece first and form follows. This seems to be what is expected of a graphic designer. To get your message across function needs to be an important part of the work. The aesthetic is also important but aesthetic alone won't help your audience receives your message.

With Question of Research, I realised, my outcomes don't need to serve a purpose as they aren't the outcome of my work, the answer to my question is. To subvert my practice I could flip the scales and focus on form. I could, all together, do something that neither has form or function and isn't aesthetically pleasing at all. I hope this isn't the case though.

The work I did on the subversion poster was increasing the space between the letters which would affect the readability however it now fits the page. This is an example of where I put form first. My initial idea was to do something with typography that I wouldn't normally but it seems there is something else I have also subverted. I hope this form focus, or lack of function, is noticeable in the work I will be showing you.
