The Many Words of Creativity

I decided to complete the same method of brainstorming that I did for subversion. This would allow me to directly compare them later on if I needed too. I found this one more difficult as it was a busy day at my house so there was lots of noise, interruptions and distractions. This disrupted my focus during the task.

I thought I might consider doing some research on good working methods to adopt that may help me keep focus and hopefully improve the quality of my work.

Starting with the word 'creativity' I began to run through words that came to mind. I have highlighted a few key ones as I did before. Innovative crops up when creativity is discussed. Innovation is something new that can be implemented into society so it makes sense there is a link between being innovative and being creative. Artistic is something that I think of when I think of being creative. Someone who is creative to me is normally artistic. I now realise this may not always be the case. Imaginative because you need a good imagination to think of something new or create something original. Manipulation because you may be manipulating already existing ideas and making them better. You could be literally manipulating something, for example, clay or paint on a page.

Divergent. Someone who is creative will probably also be a divergent thinker, they will think differently from others. Dexterous as, if you are creating within an art or design field, you need to be good with your hands. Creative work in the past, before we understood creativity, would have been considered a discovery. Ideas, brainstorming and experimenting are all aspects of the creative process. Problem-solving is also important as in design fields, as well as many others, the goal is to solve a problem. Problem-solving may also be an aspect of the creative process if you encounter any issues that need to be overcome. Fantasy, mystical and unusual are all words that could be used to describe creative ideas. You are using your imagination to be creative after all, who knows what bizarre ideas you could come across.

I also included a few personality traits I thought a creative might have. A creative might be a perfectionist. They probably need to be observant and curious in their practice. They probably have a passion for what they do and are skilled in their working methods.
